Document layout tools you will recognize

Document designs in DOC1® are based on the paragraph ‘flow’ paradigm used in standard word processors, making it easy to get started. Design using familiar layout features such as tables, text boxes, shapes, headers and footers. You can organize your page designs in any number of column layout variations, switching easily between layouts on the same page if required.

Resource flexibility

Starting document designs from scratch? Use standard Windows®-compatible font and image resources as part of your design – DOC1 will take care of the conversions required for your target media automatically. 
Need to work with existing resources? DOC1 can import fonts and images from your existing production environment and allow you to work with them in design and output.

Sophisticated application logic – without programming

To produce effective, personalized communications in a batch production environment, good document design must be coupled with conditional logic. DOC1 Designer’s Logic Map allows even business users to create complex conditions and interact visually with design objects, without requiring programming skills.

DOC1 Designer allows you to work with data aliases so that you can complete data associations when convenient. DOC1 supports input data in XML and our proprietary Keyed Record format. The Data Format Editor within DOC1 Designer allows simple and visual definition of such data. Interface with DCO1 Dataflow to provide truly sophisticated data gathering and manipulation functionality.

Breaking language barriers

DOC1 is Unicode-based and can support any language requirement. It can spell check and hyphenate in a large number of languages and has built-in support for ligature characters required for languages such as Arabic and Indian dialects. In addition to English, DOC1 interfaces are specifically localized for many key languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German.

Production resources all wrapped-up

DOC1 makes the production environment simple, creating a single file that encapsulates publication definition, the resources required by your selected output formats and other custom settings. Other than input data, this is the only file you need to pass to DOC1 Generate.

DOC1 Generate can run on a large range of servers from Windows® to many UNIX® variations to full-blown mainframe. It can create output to suit your target media, including PostScript, PDF, AFP, PCL, HTML and IJPDS and can create multiple streams simultaneously. Where ‘post-composition’ functions are required, DOC1 provides a highly-flexible script language that can segment or merge existing output streams and add additional content such as barcodes with ease.
